A Boiler Could Be Right for You

Boilers are incredibly powerful heating systems made to combat the cold climates in our country. While we might not experience terribly cold temperatures, we’re always looking for the most comfortable, affordable, and energy-efficient heating systems available. That’s why we’d like to talk about boilers.

When it comes to HVAC in Shreveport there’s no heater as durable and long-lasting as a boiler. They’re not as popular in our area, but they provide unique heating solutions for particular families and homes that no other heating system can complete. So, while some of you might skip on to check out a different heating system, those of you that are still left and curious to know how a boiler functions—let’s get down to business!

If you’ve made it this far, there could be some serious savings in it for you.

Efficiency

Boilers are masters of heating efficiency. This directly translates into money that you’ll be saving, since the less energy a heating system uses, the less money you’ll have to spend on heating bills! While boilers might cost more to install initially, they use less fuel to run than a forced-air heater simply because water is a much more effective method of heat transfer than air. Boilers don’t heat the air in your home, they heat objects, and the radiant heat that emanates from a boiler can more effectively keep your home warm.

Durability

Boilers are incredibly durable. We’d guess that you might have a neighbor or friend who has been running a boiler for many decades, and this isn’t just a fluke. Boilers last for an incredibly long period of time, even longer than the average gas furnace. For example, heat pumps last from 10-15 years when boilers last anywhere from 15-20 years and sometimes even longer than that (though we highly recommend replacing a boiler that’s older than 20 years for efficiency purposes). When you’re looking for reliable heating, the durability of a boiler heating system is unmatched in our industry.

This is mainly caused by the fact that boilers don’t have many moving parts. Forced-air heaters have multiple motors and a blower fan that must operate in tandem with the combustion furnace, while a boiler just uses a circulator pump that runs water or steam through pipes in your home. Less moving parts means the system is long-lasting!

Less Maintenance and Repairs

Since we just mentioned that a boiler heater has less moving parts than a forced-air heater, this also means that the frequency of repairs that are required to keep your heating system happy will be significantly lower than the repairs required for a furnace. As long as you keep it maintained, a boiler system shouldn’t require many repairs throughout its lifetime.

Radiant Comfort

Many homeowners just like the heat that comes from a radiant heating system more than a forced-air heater. Since radiant heat transfers through objects instead of through the air, it radiates through your home like rays of sunshine. So, sometimes it’s purely a preference decision when it comes to choosing the right heater.
